SOHO stockbridge damper respond to wind induced line vibration that is characterized by high frequency, low amplitude motion also know as aeolian vibration. SOHO stockbridge damper with Large and Small weights can achieve greater power dissipation and frequency response performance than “symmetrical weight” Stockbridge damper designs. Wider frequency coverage translates into better protection as energy is more effectively dissipated over the entire range of conductor/cable frequencies.
SOHO make the Stockbridge damper as a system consisting of a messenger cable with two masses at its ends and a clamp that supports them; this clamp is attached to the conductor or earthwire with the purpose of reduction of the aeolian vibration on the conductor. Sure enough, starting from a messenger cable optimised for maximum dissipation with an appropriate stiffness at which ends are attached masses designed with a shape so as to obtain an inertia moment and centre of gravity such that, when vibration is induced to the clamp, modes at conveniently distributed frequencies within the frequency range of the damper design will be excited, that is, within the range of dangerous frequencies of a range of overhead line conductors. It happens that, with a high damping the resonance peaks flatten, lowering the levels and widening their frequency coverage, resulting in a wide and uniform frequency response, both in magnitude an phase, e. i., a response of maximum energy dissipation that could be adapted to the needs of any cable size and tensile load.
●Head clamp – Aluminum alloy casting or extrusion offers a tight fit to evenly capture the conductor and uniformly distribute pressure along the conductor surface.
●Clamp profile – During installation, SOHO's damper clamp will hang from the conductor in accordance with IEC standards. They are free to tighten the bolt to the proper torque by hands.
●Hot dip galvanized steel strand – Precision manufactured hot dip galvanized steel strand efficiently absorbs vibration energy.
Weight:Hot dip galvanized ductile iron weights do not enclose the messenger, reducing the possibility of corrosion.
Weight Attachment – SOHO's weight attachment system exceeds the pull-off strength requirements of the IEC standards without changing the properties of the galvanized wire. In contrast, heat from casting or welding attachment methods can alter the galvanized steel stand and reduce performance.
Breakaway Bolt Option – The SOHO Vibration Damper can also be ordered with a breakaway bolt. When tightened to the recommended torque level, the top head of this bolt will shear off, ensuring that the clamp is neither over, nor under tightened.
